Don’t Wait for the “New Year, New You”

There are 25 days starting the day after Thanksgiving until the day before Christmas Eve. I’m a firm believer that you need to enjoy the holidays with your families, including all of the yummy traditional foods, in moderation. But that doesn’t give you an excuse to slack off for the non-holiday days. 

All to often, we approach the holiday season as a time to coast and we look forward to January 1st as the day we will finally embrace the “new year, new you” mantra. You don’t have to wait.  In fact, don’t wait. The more momentum you build, the easier it will be to maintain your weight through the holiday season. There is absolutely no reason you should stop “sleighing” your goals in between the holidays. Are you really making lasting lifestyle changes if you take a month long (or longer) break from your healthy habits? 

I am not saying don’t enjoy the holiday season for all it’s worth. I’m saying lets approach the end of the year with mindfulness, awareness, and the ability to have self control over what we eat.
