As adults, we have already debunked certain myths on our own. Santa is fictional, the tooth fairy doesn’t actually come to collect your teeth for whatever creepy reason our parent’s made up. But here’s another myth we need to work on debunking, like… right now. Are you ready?
Myth: Thanksgiving is a holiday made for overeating; so just wear your fat pants to the party, embrace filling your plate 3 times, and bring a pillow for the food coma you’ll eat for dessert.
Truth: Thanksgiving, like any other holiday, is a special occasion we should absolutely enjoy but within moderation.
I am not saying skip the pumpkin pie. I’m saying be mindful of what you’re eating leading up to and during your big Thanksgiving meal. Taste all the things, but do so in moderation. My favorite way to make sure I don’t go totally off the rails during a party or get together is to offer to bring food. If I can make a dish or two that I know are healthier for me, I at least know there is something I can have that won’t make me go totally off track (or something I can safely have seconds of).
